This introduction presents the project Children’s Drawings of Gods, relating its history from its origins through the present day. Following this recount- ing, we explain the organisation of this volume, introduce its parts and subparts, and briefly describe the content of each chapter

L’interdisciplinarité en partage : collaborer pour innover. Le projet «dessins de Dieu»

Cette contribution révèle le double enjeu de la recherche interdisciplinaire qui réside de manière complémentaire dans l’avancement du dialogue entre les disciplines et dans la co- production de nouvelles méthodes et techniques d’analyse. Au travers d’une méta-analyse d’un projet de recherche interdisciplinaire et multiculturel sur les représentations que les enfants se font d’agents surnaturels (i.e. des figures de «dieux»), nous étudions les enjeux épistémologiques et méthodologiques qui surgissent lorsque plusieurs regards disciplinaires sont convoqués pour le traitement, l’analyse et l’interprétation d’un corpus de dessins d’enfant numérisés. En nous basant sur l’observation participante, la documentation et l’autoréflexivité des chercheurs impliqués dans la dynamique du projet, nous montrons comment le processus interdisciplinaire se met en place, avec ses points de convergence, ses potentialités mais aussi ses difficultés au regard des divers horizons épistémiques et culturels impliqués

Images at the crossroads between computer vision and the human and social sciences: An inter- and transdisciplinary project of drawings of gods

The project “Drawings of gods: A Multicultural and Interdisciplinary Approach to Children’s Representations of Supernatural Agents” (Supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), grant number: CR11I1_156383) is an inter- and transdisciplinary project which aims to discover novel patterns in children’s representation of gods using the mixed-method (children’s drawings, narratives and questionnaires). Unlike previous studies mostly conducted within Western Christian context, this project is based on data from a larger diversity of countries and religious traditions (currently, 6’500 drawings from eight countries) and seeks to contribute to the lack of research in culture and interfaith variation of children’s representations. Primarily rooted in developmental psychology and psychology of religion, the project largely integrates religious studies, sociology and computer sciences to gain more insight into the complexity and diversity of children’s representations of supernatural agents. Three types of digital tools were developed to ensure the effective implementation of the project. Firstly, in order to make the collected drawings accessible to the whole interdisciplinary team of researchers, including international partners, an online database was created (http://ddd.unil.ch/). Secondly, the annotation tool “Gauntlet” was designed and created to meet the special needs of this research (https://d2d.vital-it.ch). Thirdly, project specific computer vision and image processing methods, such as colour detection, were developed to deal with the large amounts of data. One of the main challenges of the project is a necessity to test, rethink and rework the created digital tools to respond to specific needs of the interdisciplinary project and the unique character of children’s drawings. This required considerable time investment, financial resources and new skills on the part of researchers. We were faced with different types of problems, from the standardization of the quality of the scanned data to the architectural problems of the database, in order to better deal with the complexity and variety of collected data. Maîtriser l’information comptable : Volume 1. Introduction à la comptabilité, théorie des comptes, cadre conceptuel et établissement des comptes annuels

Cet ouvrage est le premier des trois volumes qui reprennent la matière traitée dans les précédentes éditions des volumes 1 à 4 de la série Maîtriser l’information comptable. L’objectif est d’offrir une compréhension du contenu possible de l’information comptable ainsi qu’une capacité d’interprétation de cette information. Les auteurs étudient pour chaque domaine particulier la solution la plus conforme aux théories modernes de la comptabilité puis ils décrivent les solutions usuelles ou recommandées par la doctrine. Cette approche doit permettre aux praticiens de juger de façon éclairée de la fiabilité et de la pertinence de l’information comptable dispensée par les entreprises. Ce premier volume propose une approche systématique de la comptabilité fondée sur un corps de principes organisés en une démarche théorique rationnelle. Il présente une analyse générale du traitement comptable des différentes entités sociétés qui mène à l'établissement des états financiers. Il se réfère au nouveau droit comptable suisse (art. 957-963b CO) ainsi qu'aux dispositions prévues dans les Swiss GAAP RPC et dans les IFRS. Il propose en outre 35 cas, dont 15 avec solution

Potentialités et difficultés d’un projet en humanités numériques (DH) : confrontation aux outils et réorientations de recherche

Cet article reprend les potentialités et les difficultés rencontrées lors de l’élaboration d’outils numériques dans le cadre d’un projet interdisciplinaire investiguant des dessins de dieux chez l’enfant et l’adolescent. Il se concentre sur les réorientations du projet qui en ont découlé par rapport aux attentes de départ. En particulier, nous décrirons comment des solutions ont été trouvées pour profiter des potentialités des outils numériques et quels choix ont dû être effectués concernant ces outils, en fonction de quatre types de défis : l’introduction et l’adaptation d’outils numériques aux questions de recherche des sciences humaines et sociales, le développement simultané des outils et des questions de recherche, les limitations techniques dues à la nouveauté du sujet du point de vue numérique, et la collaboration entre les sciences humaines et les spécialistes du numérique

Different Attachment Styles in Relation to Children’s Drawings of God: A Qualitative Exploration of the Use of Symbols in a Dutch Sample

The development and functioning of representations of God are complex processes, in which psychological and cultural factors mutually influence each other. Attachment is a psychological factor that can provide insights into the representation and communication of ideas and experiences regarding supernatural agents in children’s drawings and narratives. Our hypotheses: (1) Securely attached children will use more God representation-related symbols in their drawings than insecurely attached children, (2) These symbols will have a referring and self-transcending character. We explore children’s drawings of God and their accompanying narratives with regard to attachment styles. We describe our theoretical framework and discuss the research process, our use of theory and materials, and our findings. We also present a qualitative analysis of drawings by both insecurely and securely attached children, focusing on qualitative aspects of the drawings and their use of religious symbols. Secure attachment is associated with more God representation-related symbols. Other drawing aspects also relate to attachment. We compare the occurrence of attachment characterizations of relationships with God, the padding of the paper, and the use of anthropomorphic and non-anthropomorphic images. Finally, we focus on the concrete localization of God on the paper, and the figurative place where children imagined God to be
